The subject of relationships is one of the most popular in astrology. There are two popular methods in astrology for examining relationships. The first is Synastry, which looks at the actual links between two people via their individual horoscopes or birth charts. This method helps determine areas of compatibility, where partners are likely to share the same viewpoints and attitudes, and areas where problems could manifest. Typically, compatibility is discussed in romantic terms, but it can also be done for friendship, parent-child relationship, or business partnership. The second is the Composite Chart method, which as the name suggests, involves studying the Composite Chart. This is the chart of the relationship itself. It is derived by determining the mathematical midpoints between each person's planets and points, giving an entirely new chart altogether. When looking at a composite chart, we are not exploring what two people activate in each other, but the energy they generate between them. It is a great tool for exploring both mundane and spiritual aspects of the relationship as well as relationship dynamics.
